THE STUDIO
Founded on the belief that walls deserve more than paint.
Limewall & Co. is a finishing studio in New York City, specializing in hand-applied limewash and premium interior painting across New York and New Jersey. We work with homeowners and designers who care about texture, depth, and the quiet character a hand-applied finish brings to a room.
The studio was founded by Kai, after years of renovating personal and family properties across multiple markets. The work began with a simple observation: most interior paint goes on flat, sits flat, and stays flat. Limewash doesn't. Applied properly, it brings movement, shadow, and warmth to a wall — and changes how a room feels without changing anything else in it.
We're a small operation by design. Every project is led by hand, every wall is approached individually, and every finish is considered in the light and context of the specific space. That kind of attention is harder to scale than a paint roller, which is exactly the point.
PHILOSOPHY
Less, made better.
We believe in finishes that age well, materials that are honest, and processes that aren't rushed. Limewash has been used for thousands of years for the same reasons it makes sense today: it breathes, it's non-toxic, and it gets better with time. That logic — old materials, applied with care, in homes that warrant the work — is the whole of our approach.
WHAT WE USE

Vasari
The brand we reach for most. Vasari's limewash is made from slaked lime and natural mineral pigments — hand-applied in multiple coats for depth and movement.
Color Atelier
A premium artisan palette we work with for clients who want a specific or custom color story.
Selected finishes
We continually expand our material palette — clay plasters, Venetian plaster, and other artisan finishes — as projects call for them.
